Overview of Service

PA MEDI (formerly APPRISE) is a program designed to offer counseling on health insurance matters for older adults. Assistance can be provided with filing medical claims and policy comparisons and can be done via phone or in person by appointment.

Eligible Population

• Serves any Medicare beneficiary, regardless of age

Frequency & Location of Contacts

• As needed by the consumer

Core Components of the Service

The PA MEDI Program provides free face-to-face or telephone assistance with understanding Medicare and Medicaid eligibility and benefits. The program offers assistance with Medicare supplemental insurance, HMO's, and long-term care insurance. Trained volunteers and staff assist in filing appeals and grievances for denied services and provide information about quality of care in Medicare HMO's.
